Awards List

  • Carol Kerr Award: Presidential Award (Person chosen by the AMANJ President). This award is given to the person who has dedicated their life to the Association of Municipal Assessors of New Jersey. This dedication was achieved through their work, time, loyalty, and talents.
  • County Association Award: This award is given to an outstanding member of a County Association as recognition for a job well done at the local level. It is given to an active member who enhances their County Association.
  • A.E. Weiler Award (Education): This award is presented to the person who has contributed the most in the field of education.
  • Norman Harvey Award (Literary/Media): This award is presented to the author of articles adjudged to contribute the most toward the improvement of assessment administration.
  • Thomas C. McCandless, Jr. Humanitarian Award (Heroics): This award is given to the Assessor who has excelled in the betterment of mankind through heroic deeds.
  • Russell T. Wilson Award (Public Outreach): This award is presented to the member who has made the greatest effort in reaching and affecting areas of general government, as well as the public, to the benefit of the assessing Profession.
  • Assessors’ Associate Award (Associate): This award is given to a person or organization who is not a regular member of the AMANJ but who should be recognized because of their outstanding contributions to the advancement of the Association’s objectives.
  • Achievement Award (Rookie Award): This award is given to one of the newer members, regular or associate, who has demonstrated outstanding enthusiasm and contribution to the advancement of the association.
  • Timothy Mead Award (Technology): This award is given to someone that contributes in technology for the betterment of the Assessing Profession. For hard work and determination finding solutions through technology and improving the Assessing Profession and methods utilized through technology.

Award Requirements

All nominations must be made in writing and submitted to the Awards Committee Chairperson. The candidate must be a member in good standing of the AMANJ to qualify for an award (except the Associate’s Award). Nominations must state the recipient’s accomplishments or qualifications that establish why they deserve the award. Nominations may be submitted by anyone – a fellow member of the Association, a County Association or Tri-County Association, a Mayor or member of a Governing Body, or by the Awards Committee itself. The same award cannot be given to any individual more than once.
